![]() On that note, there's a new Noel Freibert comic that's "shop exclusive" - Floating World, Copacetic, and Desert Island. There's been quite a few things I've come across reading here that are long gone by the time someone mentions them. ![]() ![]() One small thing that could potentially help, in this thread, is that we could also let each other know when things become available rather than only writing about things once we've gotten around to reading them. Everyone just has to maintain their own webshop and I know a lot of folks don't find the return to be worth the bother. Not to mention there's nothing like Bandcamp. ![]() It seems to require more work to follow altcomics. The stuff just evaporates after release and that makes it harder to maintain an audience. Also, not only is there barely a coherent second-hand market (good luck browsing eBay's 'modern independent press' category) but most artists don't maintain any significant web presence listing anything in the way of bibliography, so it's hard to know what's even out there. I don't think that's necessarily a good thing but it certainly helps create a fanbase that's always paying attention. I honestly think the biggest difference between this and the DIY music scene (which I've long been involved in) is that the DIY music scene has really pushed the "limited edition"/rarity angle for years, which has been further boosted by Discogs. ![]()
